Improving shopping experience through localization technology and behavioral science

Due to the growing popularity of online shopping, retailers are under pressure to invest in technological innovations to improve the physical shopping experience. This can be done by developing extra services such as making the shopping experience more fun, more efficient, more unique. Based on user interviews, observations and co-creation workshops, several concepts were selected such as: guiding clients in store through their personal shopping list, providing personalized advice such as recipes or allergy information and optimizing the check-out waiting time. High accuracy localization solutions can solve these challenges by tracking the customer’s positions and therefore improve customer experience and simultaneously add value for the retailer. Last but not least, as a validation, a prototype was build and tested by shoppers in a real store environment.
